Whether you’re purchasing for pleasure or performance, hidden defects can be costly, both financially and emotionally. That is why we recommend to our clients that they invest in a a complete and thorough evaluation of the horse or pony before they flash their cash.

At Equis Veterinary Practice all our pre-purchase examinations / vettings are performed in accordance with South African Veterinary Association (SAVA) guidelines, and consist of thorough physical and neurological examinations. Cost effective breeding programmes.

In regards to equine reproduction, our breeding services include the collection, freezing and use of frozen semen, Artificial Insemination (AI), embryo transfers, and twin reduction. Problem mare investigation and treatment is also frequently carried out at our equine hospital. The identification and treatment of unsightly eye diseases.

The basic anatomy of the equine eye makes it prone to all sorts of problems including a variety of nasty equine ophthalmic diseases. If left untreated there is the potential for severe damage to occur, which may eventually lead to blindness. It is therefore unsurprising that at Equis Veterinary Practice we take equine eye conditions very seriously, and have invested a great deal of time and effort into the identification and successful treatment of eye disease in horses.
